Safari Experiences - Botswana

ZARAFA CAMP

Zarafa Camp, located in the 320,000-acre Selinda Reserve is synonymous with exclusivity and perfection. The spirit behind Zarafa Camp comes from Colin Bell, Dereck and Beverly Joubert, who together designed Zarafa to incorporate all the components of what they envisioned as the ‘perfect’ safari camp. Positioned in the extreme eastern side of the Reserve, its location is in prime wildlife territory. Each of the camp’s four immense tented suites are raised up on wooden decking and shaded by a canopy of African ebony and Red ivory trees, each with uninterrupted views.

SELINDA CAMP

Selinda Camp rests on the banks of the eastern Selinda Spillway in the 320,00-acre Selinda Reserve of northern Botswana. This prime location is deep within rich wildlife territory. Completely rebuilt in 2007, Selinda Camp is a relaxed, yet luxurious tented safari camp and has established itself as one of the gems in the region with a harmonious blend of a classic tented bush camp interwoven with contemporary amenities.

SELINDA CANOE TRAIL

The Selinda Canoe Trail is a 4-day and 3-night adventure along the Selinda Spillway - the waterway linking Botswana's Okavango Delta and Linyanti and Kwando water systems.  This is the ideal setting for Botswana's leading canoeing and walking safari, hosting a mere eight guests on each departure. The Trail hearkens back to the spirit of safaris of old, when days were spent on impromptu exploration and each night was spent camping along the banks of a river. Today, this experience can be enjoyed on the Selinda Canoe Trail.

SELINDA EXPLORERS CAMP

Just one and a half hours west of Selinda main camp, Selinda Explorers Camp is poised in a remote, treasured location on the famous Selinda Spillway. As the lifeline of the Selinda Reserve, the Selinda Spillway is a crucial gathering point for the wildlife of this pristine 320,000-acre Reserve.  The intention of Selinda Explorers Camp is to offer the same quality of wildlife experience, while allowing guests to explore outside of the vehicle, by foot and canoe. This classic camp, consisting of four custom-designed tents, transports us back to authentic safaris, but with a modern twist and hospitality.

DUBA PLAINS CAMP

Duba Plains Camp, located in the northern reaches of Botswana's famed Okavango Delta and just north of the Moremi Game Reserve, is a private 77,000-acre reserve. Inaccessible for most of the year by any means other than aircraft, it is this remoteness that solidifies Duba Plains as the soul of ‘wild Africa’.  Duba offers just 12 guests an idyllic all-round Okavango experience throughout the year, with vast, seasonally inundated floodplains, which are home to huge herds of buffalo being a highlight.

MARA PLAINS

Imagine an intimate safari camp set right in the heart of some of the greatest predator country of Africa…

This is Mara Plains Camp, located on the northern border of the Masai Mara Game Reserve in the 30,000 acre Olare Orok Conservancy. Mara Plains Camp is a small, high quality, seven-roomed camp under canvas and on raised decks with sweeping views across Kenya’s notable savannahs. Guests of Mara Plains have access to over 100,000 acres of low-density vehicle tourism lands as well as an additional 375,000 acres within the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

MARA TOTO

‘Toto’ means baby in Swahili, and was often used as a term of endearment in reference to young safari staff in the days of early exploration. But today, in our context, it is simply meant out of respect to its sister camp, Mara Plains, which has developed a phenomenal reputation. We are certain Mara Toto will follow suit. Just a few kilometers downstream from Mara Plains, Mara Toto resides in a small bend in the Ntiakitiak River, where thick forest meets savannah, and we’ve made a home.
