Despite towering grass on the plains, the cats of the Olare Orok Conservancy have been on top form this week. One family staying at Mara Plains saw 8 leopards in 3 days, and 3 of those sightings were in one morning. The same day on their afternoon drive they witnessed TWO successful hunts, one by three cheetah brothers and the other by a pride of lions.
What incredible luck they had, helped enormously by their appreciation of all things great and small that came their way, and their total lack of expectation or demand.
Nature does seem to open her arms to those who understand that every encounter in the bush is a unique gift, and they come in all shapes and sizes around every corner.
