Zarafa Diaries – The Buffalo arrive
27th May 2012 Posted in: Botswana Camps, BushBuzz, Recently Spotted, Zarafa Camp 0

It is incredible when you witness something on the reserve that has never occurred before, well in the 4 years since Zarafa has been here. On orientating new guests yesterday we looked out just in front of camp to see around 100 Buffalo Grazing on the grasses by room one. This was a first.  Everyone is extremely excited, especially the guides.  This spells many things for us but mostly that we really should have a bumper season ahead.  All around us is dry dry dry.  The seasonal rainfall was very low this year.  That is why the “Buff” came in as the permanent waters have become the only water source.  Normally we don’t see them until July or August.  Great news for sightings and if there are Buffalo around there will be Lion also. Here is to an exciting season on the Selinda Reserve.
