We are thrilled to report that with the opening hours of April came a massive overnight shift in weather patterns. The wind howled through the night and the heavens opened, leveling the heavy dust clouds and smothering the oppressive heat. This morning was, for the first time in many many weeks, really quite chilly, but everyone in camp wrapped up warm and headed out before sunrise to be a part of the excitement on the plains.
All flora and fauna are loving the cool temperatures and cloud cover. Herbivores are charging around, challenging one another, sizing themselves up, pronking, prancing and generally celebrating this exciting time of year when the first dump of water brings promise of a plentiful food supply, flowing rivers and open mating season. Every creature and plant is bursting with life, vibrance and fresh energy.
From the mess the rising sun shed light on massive herds of zebra who have flocked through the night to feed on the fresh sprouting grass shoots that are already seeping a vivid green out of the ground across every horizon.
What a privileged it is to witness nature soaking up life-giving liquid sustenance and magically converting it in such beautiful processes.
