Botswana Camps
Our latest arrivals – Selinda Camp, Selinda Reserve, Botswana

As the sun rose on another spectacular morning at Selinda Camp,  our guests quietly sipped freshly brewed coffee around the warm fire with a surprise in store for them.

We’d been noticing tracks of a lioness and her two cubs for the past few days and were eagerly awaiting the chance that she might show us her babies. The morning game drives departed and those of us left in camp waited with eager anticipation – “Would this be the morning?”

Then came the crackle over the radio – sighting – female lion with two cubs. We were over the moon with the news and ecstatic that our guests were able to view her with her babies.

We were able to snap these photographs of her with the cubs while they frolicked and played in the afternoon shadows. The patience that she exercises while being stalked, pounced upon, nipped at and growled at by her younglings is phenomenal.

To add to the excitement of the day a Spotted Hyena den which was not too far from where the lioness was resting with her cubs came to life too. We’ve known about this Hyena den for a while now and have had fleeting sightings of the Hyena there over the past few days. This day was to be different. After having had an excellent sighting of the lioness and cubs, guests were treated to 3 young Hyena lazing in the afternoon sun. There are 2 individuals of around 1 year in age and then a youngster of not more than a few months.

We look forward to watching these youngsters grow and share their journey in the wilderness that is Selinda Reserve.
